CARDIGAN and Newcastle Emlyn-based butchers Dewi James a’i Gwmni, are backing Porc from Wales Week (January 24-30) - an annual celebration of artisan producers and retailers that specialise in breeding and supplying high quality products from traditional Welsh sausages to Italian style charcuterie.

Leading figures from the Welsh food industry such as broadcasters Samantha Evans and Shauna Guinn of Hang Fire Southern Kitchen fame and a host of food bloggers will be showcasing the very best of locally-sourced porc and where consumers can buy it from.

Dafydd Davies, of Dewi James a’i Gwmni, said: “Our produce comes either from our own farm or trusted local suppliers from the surrounding Teifi Valley.

“Full traceability of our produce is very important to us and to our customers. That’s why we sell porc in our butcher’s shops. We know that the quality of the meat is exceptional.

“We’ve been supplying the retail and catering trade for over fifty years with prime quality local meat.

“We believe our reputation as ‘high class butchers’ is all down to our experience and knowledge of rearing and selecting livestock, together with the traditional butchery skills we practice in both our shops.

“Our customers value our traditional beliefs and embrace our modern approach.

“When customers buy locally, they can see the benefits of having shops like ours in their local community.

“Not only are they buying a quality product, but they are helping local businesses and the wider community to thrive, while also helping the environment.”
