CEREDIGION County Council say they are ‘reviewing other options’ following Menter Aberteifi’s decision not to stage next month’s Cardigan Winter Fair.

The regeneration group turned down an offer from County Hall to run the street market traditionally held in tandem with Cardigan Fair saying they feared Covid passports would make it ‘a logistical nightmare’.

But although Menter fear extra costs involved in complying with Covid-19 regulations would also leave question marks over the Winter Fair’s viability, they have not ruled out running the 2022 event.

“For this reason we must decline for 2021, but register our interest for doing it in 2022,” Menter Aberteifi CEO Julian Beynon-Lewis said last month.

“To do it justice, we would want to start work on it around March 2022.”
