A 23-YEAR-old Newport motorist has been fined £825 by Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire magistrates and banned from the road for 12 months after being found guilty of drug driving.
Luke Stuart James Austin, of Cilgwyn, had denied driving a black Volkswagen Lupo on Perrotts Road, Haverfordwest on October 29, 2020 with 2.5ug/L of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol – commonly known as THC – in his blood.
Finding the case proved, magistrates said they had found the evidence of Pc Griffiths-Moses ‘clear, credible and consistent’ with bodycam footage while there were ‘inconsistencies’ with the defendant’s evidence.
“The prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt,” they added.
Austin was also ordered to pay a victim’s surcharge of £83 along with prosecution costs of £650.
