Cardigan Bowling Club hosted the 2021 Annual Ceredigion Open Two Wood Singles Championships recently and it was a Cardigan player who lifted the main prize of the weekend.

This long standing tournament attracted bowlers from all corners of the County and competitors were treated to a fast running surface which quickened up as the competition intensified.

The singles event took place on the opening day and the eventual winner following four knock out matches was home club player Andrew Clarke who defeated Andrew Wilson of Lampeter Bowling Club by 21-15 after coming back from a 14-3 deficit.

On Sunday there was a healthy entry for the two wood pairs competition and there was a real chance of a Cardigan double with the experienced home duo of Dilwyn Jones and Paul Monders reaching the final.

The Cardigan pair took a healthy lead in the opening quarter but the Tregaron partnership of William Jones and John Jones gradually clawed their way back and they pulled away in the final few ends to win by five shots. This was their third win on the trot in this challenging competition.

The trophies were presented to the winners and losing finalists by Ceredigion County President Mr Richard Morgan of Aberystwyth Bowling Club.
