There was determination stamped all over Llandysul as the Teifisiders showed just what they are capable of by springing a 63-run win over South Wales Cricket Association division one leaders Dafen Welfare at Tir-Dref.
Medium-pace bowler Iestyn Evans stole the limelight with a superb bowling stint, in snapping seven wickets for 20 runs in his 10 overs, two of which were maidens.
The former footballer with Maesglas FC, who missed the build-up to the season through a lengthy injury, has returned in style as the visitors were all out for just 87.
Having had first use of a lively track Llandysul opener Ieuan Paske made 17, but wickets fell at regular intervals and at one stage the homesters were 99-5.
Skipper Ben Edkins at first wicket down contributed 24 runs, Gary Williams at four made 20, and middle order man Steffan James top scored with his knock of 34.
Tail-ender Iestyn Evans was undefeated on 18 in a total of 150-9 in 50 overs, with Andrew Dyer (2 for 39), Ian Capon (2 for 7), Philip George (2 for 25) and Simon Holliday (2 for 38) taking wickets.
In reply, opener Mathew Evans was top scorer for Dafen with 31, which included three boundaries, before being bowled by Iestyn Evans.
It then became something of a procession back to the pavilion as Evans did the business, and he was assisted by first-rate ground fielding, with Gary Williams taking a couple of catches, with a stumping by Andrew Barrett.
After opener Evans, the best score for the visitors was extras on 28 as the innings ended on 87 in 36.2 overs.
A fifth win enabled Llandysul to secure second place in the table three points behind Maesteg and the top two go head-to-head in the Llynfi Valley this weekend.
