LLECHRYD succumbed to a 138-run defeat at Narberth in the Pembrokeshire Cricket League division one as the Teifisiders were all out for 145, in reply to 282 for 8.
After five defeats and three abandoned matches due to the weather, Llechryd are five points adrift at the bottom of the league standings, ahead of this Saturday’s home match with Haverfordwest.
Having first use of a good batting track Narberth made excellent progress, with new recruit Jamie McCormack leading the way with a fine innings of 96 (11 fours, 5 sixes), before holing out just four runs short of a century.
Others to plunder runs were opener Richie Adams (66, 8 fours and a six), Loui Davies (42), Ben Hughes (25), Jordan Howell (21) and Ben Quartermaine (14) as Narberth posted an imposing score of 282-8.
Medium-pacer Johnnie Lewis was best of the visiting bowlers as he returned 5 for 45, with David Dunfee (2 for 54) and Graham Keen (1 for 39) also amongst the wickets.
Llechryd skipper John Curran conceded just 15 runs in his six overs, and was the top scorer in the reply as he played some delightful shots in his 53 (8 fours and a six).
There were also runs from David Dunfee (34) and Dafydd Davies (22 not out), but Loui Davies snapped 3 for 2, David Johns 3 for 30, Ben Quartermaine 2 for 26 and skipper Ben Hughes 2 for 41 as Llechryd were all out for 145.
Crymych again failed to fulfil a fixture in division four, as opponents Llechryd Seconds were awarded 20 points.
The Preseli men, who celebrated their 40th anniversary two years ago, are currently appealing for new players.
In division five, Llechryd opener Tom Harris made 77 and Rob Mansfield 58 in their total of 170-5, but their Cresselly counterparts won by three wickets with 173 for 7.
For Cresselly, Steffan Jenkins returned bowling figures of 3-17 and then scored 87 not out, despite wickets falling to Kelvin Holmes 4-22.
