CARDIGAN and the surrounding area will be taking part in Cancer Research UK's nationwide campaign March - Walk all over Cancer.

Those taking part are being challenged to reach a goal of 10,000 steps daily throughout the month, while raising money for the charity.

Cardigan’s Cancer Research UK committee has 18 members who work tirelessly as a team to raise money by organising coffee mornings, whist Drives, and other events. They also have a number of faithful and hardworking helpers who volunteer to help when required.

Due to the current pandemic and lockdown restrictions, fund-raising has come to a halt and therefore the Cardigan committee has decided to participate in this campaign and are welcoming any members of the public to join in to raise vital funds for this charity. They have set a target of £2,000.

Cardigan mayor Cllr Clive Davies and mayoress Mrs Myra Davies, who is also one of the group’s loyal helpers, have both signed up to join Cardigan’s community challenge – you can walk, run, jog or dance your way to 10,000 steps a day throughout March to help beat cancer.

The local branch has its own unique link which has been created by the charity called 'Aberteifi yn cerdded dros gancr'. Go to

"Donate, join and spread the word. Let’s beat cancer together," said a spokesperson for the local group.
