A £1m National Lottery prize which could have gone to a lucky winner in Ceredigion has remained unclaimed more than 180 days after the draw took place.
The deadline for the EuroMillions prize was at midnight on December 19, which means the ticket-holder who bought their ticket in Ceredigion earlier this year has missed out on the chance to claim the cash.
The money, plus the interest it earned, has now gone to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.
“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner – the nation."
National Lottery players raise, on average, around £30 million for National Lottery-funded projects every week across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.
In total, around 2,150 projects in Ceredigion have shared over £84 million in National Lottery funding since The National Lottery began.
One of these projects is DASH, which runs a range of activities to support disabled children and young people and their families in Ceredigion.
