CARDIGAN will once again host a Winter Giant Lantern Parade.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s procession will take place on Friday, December 8 through the streets of the town from 7pm and ending in a fireworks display around 8.30pm.
Last year the event attracted more than 350 lanterns and some giant lanterns created by members of the public. The procession lit up the town in a true celebration of community and the festive season, delighting thousands of spectators who lined the streets.
The idea is to make the 2017 parade bigger and better, with Cardigan’s shops open for late night shopping.
Small World Theatre, which will lead the parade from Pendre Art to Cardigan Castle, will again be staging lantern-making workshops throughout November.
Workshops will be fun and creative. The lanterns are made from tissue paper and PVA glue, so please come to the making session in old clothes (some aprons will be available as well).
To take part in a free workshop session suitable for all ages and abilities, contact Small World Theatre on 01239 615952.
The parade, presented by Cymdeithas Aberteifi Society and Small World Theatre, has attracted funding from the National Lottery Awards for All.
