A CAT has been left fighting for his life after being shot eight times with an air weapon near Tregroes, Llandysul.
Jingle, a four year-old black cat, was found by his owners at their small-holding after he had managed to drag himself home following the attack.
Owner Steve said: “I let the cat out on Tuesday, January 5 at about 10pm, then at about 11.30pm we were letting the dogs out for a run before bed when we heard a commotion.
"There were big torch lamps on a road nearby and a car had pulled over. My wife and I weren’t too concerned and went to bed.
“In the morning we found our little man in the outhouse on one of the dog’s beds. He wasn’t moving, his belly was aching and he had puncture wounds. When I picked him up a bit of blood came out his mouth.”
After taking the cat to the vets the couple were told their cat had been shot eight times by an air weapon.
Steve said the vet suspected the cat had been trapped up a tree by dogs and then shot because in one spot there were three shots, showing the cat was likely stuck in one position.
The vets managed to get seven out of eight of the shots out of the cat, and he is now back home but still very poorly and fighting for his life.
“We’ve put posters up around the village to warn locals what had happened and to be careful with their pets,” said Steve.
“It’s quite sick to think that someone would want to trap a cat to do this.”
Although home, Jingles has a long way to go on the road recovery and "is not out of the woods" quite yet.
