A former New Quay man and ex-lecturer at Lampeter University indicated to magistrates he intended pleading guilty on 14 charges involving child pornography.
Malcolm Stuart Smith, aged 59, formerly of Francis Street, New Quay, who has retired from his post as history lecturer at the university, and now lives in Northampton, was alleged to have committed the offences between July 2005 and April 2006.
He was charged with nine offences of making indecent images of children and five of possessing indecent photographs of children.
It was alleged the images were viewed and re-viewed after being downloaded on a laptop computer.
Smith is to appear at a plea and case management hearing at Swansea Crown Court on April 5, and he was given bail, conditions of which require him to live at his present address and report to police three times a week.
