CANTREF staff will officially launch a new Outreach Service for Older People Scheme on Wednesday, October 9, at Gerddi’r Ffynnon, Aberystwyth.
The scheme is a pilot service developed with Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Supporting People Teams, offering a range of practical support services for older people, which enables them to continue living independently in their own home.
Activities take place in Cantref’s sheltered housing schemes at Aberystwyth, Cardigan and Fishguard.
A Ceredigion pensioner has thanked Cantref and their Outreach Service for Older People Scheme for helping him remain independent in his own home.
Brian Pearson, who received an array of support through the scheme, said: “I try to let a lot of people on this street know about this service. The service is excellent, I’d give it 20 out of 10.”
Cantref’s Chief Executive, Lynne Sacale, added: “We are delighted to be piloting this service as it will allow us to deliver much needed support to the growing population of older people in our communities, including customers of Cantref’s own general needs housing. We are also proud of the facilities at our sheltered housing schemes and believe these should be accessible to other older people living nearby.”
