MARK Williams MP joined in a celebration of Ceredigion County Council’s achievements in completing the innovative, bilingual Carer Aware E-Learning course last week.

The course, launched in December 2012, is operated by Social Care in Partnership, Mid Wales and key partners, Hywel Dda Local Health Board, Powys Teaching Health Board, The Carers Development Learning and Improvement Network and the Local Authorities of Ceredigion, Powys, Pembrokeshire, and Carmarthen.

The course aims to raise awareness of carers’ rights and the important role that health and social care workers play in identifying carers and linking carers to appropriate support.

Mr Williams and staff from Ceredigion County Council including Sue Darnbrook, Head of Adult Social Care Services, were presented with certificates for successfully completing the Carer Aware E-learning course by Councillor Catherine Hughes, Carers Champion for the county.

Councillor Catherine Hughes, Ceredigion Cabinet Member for Care, Assurance and Housing Services, said: “I’m so pleased that Ceredigion is well on the way to becoming such a carer aware authority where staff acknowledge carers and recognise the vital role they play in the community.”
