AN expert is to be consulted by the defence in a case in which an Aberporth motorist has pleaded not guilty to an excess alcohol charge.
When he appeared at Ceredigion Magistrates Court last week 57-year-old Alan Carl Pursch, of 53 Brynglas, Aberporth, who was represented by Richard Griffiths denied the offence allegedly committed while driving a blue BMW in Tresaith Road, Aberporth on July 11.
It was alleged that the defendant had 154 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine – the legal limit is 107.
Informing the court that he intended consulting an expert Mr Griffiths said there was a dispute as to the accuracy of the reading and as to whether a urine sample was taken at the police station in accordance with procedure.
The case was adjourned for trial on Thursday, December 5 and Pursch was given unconditional bail.
