CEREDIGION’S local Plaid Cymru AM Elin Jones has welcomed Amazon’s decision to sell Welsh-language books on its Kindle system.
Previously, Amazon had refused to support Welsh-language publications, despite offering titles in languages such as Basque and Catalan on its Kindle platform. The u-turn comes after a campaign led by Ceredigion-based publishers Y Lolfa, and a petition which was signed by over 5000 people.
Plaid’s Elin Jones AM said,
“I’m delighted at this news, and warmly congratulate all at Y Lolfa for their successful campaign. This will help create a wider audience for Welsh-language books, including overseas. Amazon’s initial decision made no sense, and I warmly welcome their change of heart.”
