PLANS for a 35m windturbine at Synod Inn have been given the go-ahead by Ceredigion planners.
The application at Synod Uchaf- submitted by local member and farmer Brian Davies - was recommended for refusal by planning officers who felt the hilltop site was too prominent and would affect the landscape.
They were especially concerned that the new turbine would be seen along with an already existing 34.6m turbine at nearby Pantsod farm.
But following a site meeting, councillors agreed that the hilltop was the best place for the turbine because of the amount of wind.
The turbine - which will be used to generate electricity for the farm - will create enough power for 83 houses, the committee were told.
Moving the turbine lower down the farm would also place it within the view of a neighbouring house.
But Cllr Gethin James said he was concerned at the accumulative effect of giving permission.
"Not only in this instance but across the county," he said.
"The impact will be greater because there will be two turbines including the one at Pantsod," he said.
Cllr Davies left the chamber during the debate.
