NATURAL Resources Wales has caught two more potential poachers during its crackdown on illegal fishing on the River Teifi.
On Friday officers caught two men in the act of lifting an alleged illegal net near Cardigan Town.
The suspects, a local man aged 39 and a 26 year-old man from Fishguard, have been reported for fisheries offences.
No fish had been caught, but officers seized the 16m net as evidence.
A Natural Resources Wales spokesman said: “We’ve stepped up patrols due to the recent spate of illegal poaching on the Teifi, and it’s good to see our hard work paying off.
“This sends a strong message to those who think they can continue to take fish illegally – we will take action against those who risk the health of our fish stocks and our rivers.
“The River Teifi is enjoyed by many, and we will continue to target these illegal poachers so it can remain a place for local people to enjoy in years to come."
