A FEAST of world-class music is coming to Theatr Mwldan on October 28.

Two international bands, hand-picked from prestigious international showcases appearing at WOMEX 2013 in Cardiff, make a special stage appearance in Cardigan as part of the Wales-wide Horizons tour, co-produced by Creu Cymru and Theatr Mwldan.

The Horizons tour will ensure that audiences all over Wales will get the chance to enjoy some of the globe’s finest music immediately after the Cardiff event closes, as eight bands tour 16 venues across the country.

Visiting Theatr Mwldan on October 28, 7.30pm, are Cumbia All Stars (Peru) who take us back to the psychedelic roots of the Peruvian Cumbia! Like a Peruvian Buena Vista Social Club, the 8-piece Cumbia All Stars come from the legendary bands of Peruvian Cumbia and, after 40 years, they meet again to finally play together the music they participated in creating.

Also on the bill at Theatr Mwldan are DnA – by name, and by nature: music is in the very DNA of this hugely talented mother-and-daughter duo Delyth and Angharad Jenkins, who both enjoy international reputations not only as soloists but as members of such bands as Calan, Adran D, Aberjaber and Cromlech.

Whether they’re vamping up a traditional oldie or minting something entirely new, there’s a timeless beauty to these intimate and irresistible conversations between harp and fiddle.

“A major post – Womex tour is something that has never been attempted before,’ said Dilwyn Davies, CEO of Theatr Mwldan.

“It’s an ambitious tour, not least because of the logistics involved, which will feature 16 performances over four nights across 16 different venues in Wales, with over 70 artists on the road.”

Theatr Mwldan will also be holding a special four-hour workshop, led by Community Music Wales, at noon on October 28. Members of the public will have the chance to join a collaborative music workshop, which will be joined for the final hour by DnA.

Tickets for Cumbia All Stars and DnA are £14 (£12 concessions) available from Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200, www.mwldan.co.uk, or via smart phones.
