ARTIST Morag Colquhoun is holding an exhibition Energia at Oriel Mwldan opening next Saturday, October 19.
Energia will be opened by artist Rabab Ghazoul in an informal discussion with Morag Colquhoun on. A warm welcome is extended to all, light refreshments will be served.
Morag Colquhoun exhibits a series of intricate beeswax plant models together with photography, sculpture and video. This new body of work draws together several of the ideas and inspirations: what is the relationship between energy and culture? How do eco systems and cultural identities flow in and out of each other? How are identities – plants, animals, people, languages – made, hybridized, conserved, degraded or destroyed? Colquhoun explores the rooted and slow time culture of localism, languages, gardens and ecosystems as they meet the uncontrolled energy flows of globalisation.
