AN exciting new local instrumental duo are performing in Aberystwyth Arts centre on October 16, 7.45pm.

Celtic harpist Harriet Earis has combined with guitarist Clovis Phillips for an unforgettable fusion of Celtic music and jazz.

Harriet Earis has performed solo in the Albert Hall and to 25,000 people in the 02 Arena as part of "Young Voices" 2008 and was a winner of the coveted Open Stage competition at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow 2007, chosen from 82 acts competing. She has represented Wales in the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France and tours worldwide, with frequent solo recitals across America and Europe.

Clovis Phillips has been playing the guitar in folk bands since he was four and has a degree in Popular Music and Recording from Salford University with an emphasis on jazz. He has since gone on to do postgraduate music work studying at Goldsmiths College, London. He has been touring Wales as a soloist and with bands and making his name as an incredibly talented and accomplished jazz guitarist. His first CD “Even if You Smile” came out when he was just 16 and his second album “Lights Out” came out in 2010.

Expect foot-tapping Irish and Scottish jigs and reels, lively Welsh tunes and new jazzy compositions - everything from Celtic to ragtime.
