EVERYONE is welcome to a stunning performance by Frankie Armstrong and Mikey Price at Small World Theatre on Saturday 12 October at 7.30pm, performing the Songs of Bertolt Brecht in settings by Kurt Weill and Hans Eisler, and songs of other songwriters.
Frankie Armstrong is a highly regarded singer of both contemporary and traditional folk songs. With accompanist Mike Price, she turns her powerful voice to the extraordinary songs of Bertold Brecht.
Frankie made an album of these songs with the late, legendary Dave Van Ronc (the man who taught House of the Rising Sun to Bob Dylan) which drew massive praise.
‘Armstrong has developed a musical style that brings controlled rage and gentle force to Brecht's words. Her performance is exquisite.' ?Kathe Grey The Ontarion Canada
Frankie Armstrong has been singing professionally since 1964 and has done many interesting things including in 1975 she began her pioneering Voice Workshops based on ethnic styles of singing - where singing is as natural as speaking. She has sung and run workshops all over Europe, North America and Australia, working with community groups, theatre companies, international voice and theatre festivals and in every kind of setting from hospitals to the National Theatre Studio, London.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear the power and love that Frankie brings to her interpretations and the beauty of Mike's accompaniments (plus his own gloriously quirky songs). Book tickets through whatevertheweatherwales.co.uk
