TO usher in the autumn mood, Span Arts presents a blustery night of folk, roots, rock and bluegrass at the Queens Hall, Narberth on Thursday, October 3, 8pm.
The rowdy room-shakers known as Mad Dog Mcrea have become highly acclaimed for their exciting blend of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake-your-ass’ music.
The band’s most recent album, The Whirling Dervish, won the title of Album of the Year at the South West Music Awards.
From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies, Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.
BBC Radio 2’s Mike Harding, presenter of the annual BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, described the band as “one of the most exciting discoveries” when he unearthed the band last year for his folk and roots programme.
This is the second instalment of Span Arts’ regular Acoustic Sessions, after the wonderfully received launch night with Southern Tenant Folk Union.
Support to be announced soon.
Tickets £9/£7 (members & concessions), available from Span Arts at www.span-arts.org.uk or call 01834 869 323.
