IN an evening of Pop and Folk Music from Wales, Caroline Harrison, one of the fastest-rising new music stars will be the top act at Cardigan’s Guildhall, on Saturday 21 September. Described as having ‘A voice of gold’ by the Swansea Evening Post, her music is a cross between nostalgic pop, and folk and has been likened to earlier female singing stars of the seventies, like Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick. Radio Wales has featured her debut single ‘Beyond the Darkened Sky’ which was released in the summer, and Caroline was also their named ‘Artist of the Week’ twice this year. BBC 6’s Steve Lamacq loved the song, and over 70 other UK radio stations have played it since it came out. Recently Caroline supported super-group Texas, at their London show for Smooth Radio and she will be setting off on a tour of UK and Europe later in the Autumn to coincide with the release of a second single and EP on 28 October.

She brings with her some exceptional new talent in her support acts. Danielle Lewis is a 20 year old singer songwriter from New Quay, West Wales, and is another recent favourite play on Radio Wales; Nel Jenkins, from Pembrokeshire, whose voice and musical range have been likened to the late great Sandy Denny; and Sion Russell Jones, who is a singer songwriter from Cardiff with a unique and infectious vocal style backed up with intricate guitar melodies and cracking choruses. He too has had plenty of Radio play during the past months. All of them are evidently held in high esteem by the current DJs in Wales and on UK radio, so this gig offers the promise of an excellent night with them all in one place. The show starts at 8.00pm and entrance is £5 on the door.
