A DYFED Family History Open Day will be held at the Cliff Hotel, Gwbert, on Saturday, September 21,10am to 4pm.
The event is a unique opportunity for local people to access information which they may otherwise have to go further afield to find.
The popularity of genealogy is now on the increase as a result of programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are?
The Dyfed Family History has a wealth of resources to help people track down their ancestors, including birth, marriage and death records, monumental inscriptions and indexes to wills, and has branches in Haverfordwest, Cardigan, Llanelli, Carmarthen and Llandovery.
The five branches will bring records to the Open Day to be viewed, and other Welsh family history societies will also be present with their stands, along with the National Library of Wales and local archive resources from Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Haverfordwest.
Local history will also be represented in the shape of Narberth Museum, Over the Waves and Cardigan Castle, among others.
There will also be an opportunity to find out more about services offered by photo restoration companies or old books.
Genealogy is a fascinating hobby and most people who take it up are very passionate about it and are always eager to help others to start. Anyone interested can visit the open day to find out more.
