Theatr Mwldan Film Society will be screening Like Someone in Love on September 15.
The master Iranian director Kiarostami’s illustrious career continues with his latest movie, set in Tokyo, which exhibits some interesting ideas and sympathetic performances in a superbly shot and fascinatingly controlled exercise. The action revolves around a young student Akiko who is doing escort work in Tokyo, and is becoming increasingly exhausted and disenchanted. When she is sent out on a job in the suburbs, her client turns out to be a gentle and grandfatherly academic, Takashi. As the relationship between this ingenuous young woman and shy old man develops, Takashi winds up giving cautious advice to Akiko's garage mechanic boyfriend who is in serious danger of finding out how Akiko picks up extra cash.
