THE World premiere of a fantastic dance puppet piece by Federico Restrepo of LOCO7 dance puppet theatre is showing at Small World Theatre on Sunday, September 15, at 8pm.

Federico arrives from New York to take part in the World Stage Design Conference in Cardiff, and has collaborated with Small World Theatre to present his new solo work, PLUNGE, which combines the use of body puppets, marionettes, masks, dance and music.

PLUNGE is framed in an unfamiliar world wherein the protagonist struggles to find a new place to call home. His journey is filled with strange dreams which encroach on his view of the world, creating exciting conceptual images of the 'displaced'. The new play deals with the relationship between where we come from, and where we go.

Restrepo said: "Grandparents ashes and the footsteps through the earth give us a way to enter the strange world of the main character as he deals with dreams of his former world, his homeland. They are drifting away and the anguish that this sensation brings about, form visualisations of the main character's mental state."

PLUNGE, as with other LOCO7 productions, creates movement and visual elements to abstractly express the anguish and detachment, which is the displaced persons experience; taking aim at the transcending barriers and linking the political and social borders that are in constant flux throughout the global community.

Federico, originally from Bogota Columbia, is a resident choreographer, director, puppet designer, and performer at La Ma Ma Theatre in New York since 1985.

The majestic and sharp-witted works of LOCO7 are received with a mix of amazement and delight.

This is a very rare opportunity to see his work and one that should not be missed. Book £7 tickets through whatevertheweatherwales.co.uk
