PENfro Book Festival is presenting a special Children’s Day at Small World Theatre on Saturday September 14 as part of the main festival.
The day is divided into a storytelling with award-winning author Daniel Morden, and an afternoon circus workshop with Small World Theatre's performers.
From 10.30am Daniel tells tales from the greatest adventure story of all! Children aged 8 + will love 'Tales from the Odyssey' following Odysseus' journey as he encounters witches, ghosts, dragons and a certain flesh-eating, one-eyed giant... Daniel is one of the most popular storytellers in the UK. He has told tales all over the world, from Australia to the Arctic. He has told The Odyssey on Broadway, at the National Theatre, at Hay Festival - and for one day only, in Cardigan.
A family ticket for this show cost £6 or £2 per person.
At 1.30pm, join Small World Theatre for a fabulous circus skills workshop based on the story of ‘Angelo' by Quentin Blake. Angelo and his family travel around the country playing music, singing songs and performing marvellous balancing tricks: Angelo can even dance on a rope! So when he meets Angelina, who is sad and lonely and trapped in her mean uncle's house, Angelo knows just how to help... Children aged 6 + will spend a fun-filled afternoon learning circus skills, and parents and friends are invited to watch a demonstration by the young performers at 3.30pm. Please book this workshop advance at £7.50 per child via whatevertheweatherwales.co.uk. There's lots of information about the event held at Rhosygilwen 12 - 15 September, on their new festival website penfrobookfestival.org.uk.
