FRIDAY night at PENfro Book Festival will bring together talented poets and prose writers from all over west Wales and beyond who will perform and read their work.

It’s shaping up to be a great night of live literature. The Cellar Bards from Cardigan are staging the event on Friday, September 13, at Rhosygilwen, starting at 8pm.

Special guest is performance poet Tim Wells, who will be making the trip from his London home to do two sets at the Cellar Bards and Friends evening. He was a great success at the recent Edinburgh Festival.

Winners of the first PENfro Poetry Competition will be announced by guest judge, poet Samantha Wynne Rhydderch. More than 150 entries were received from all over the UK and the winners will be invited to read their winning work on the night.

The Cellar Bards themselves will be reading and they will be joined by guests from live literature groups Haiku and Hipflasks, from Carmarthen; Red Heron, Lampeter; and the PENfro Poets, who will be launching their first collection of poetry, which is published by Menter Rhosygilwen, with support from the PENfro Festival.

Entry is£3 on the door, which includes a raffle ticket with a great selection of literary prizes. The event starts at 8pm.
