By John Adey A local darts league has been rocked for a second time by ugly scenes during a match and led to the management committee severely reprimanding the top team.
The first unsavoury incident occurred in November during a game involving Lamb Inn team Tafarn yr Oen and champions Hope & Anchor when the match finishing prematurely and in disarray after heated exchanges.
Shortly afterwards Hope & Anchor landlord and Welsh international Mark ‘Chalkie’ Lewis withdrew the pub’s four teams from the league.
Further trouble flared at last month’s game between league leaders Tafarn yr Oen and visitors Tivy Inn, prompting the Tivy to lodge a complaint with the league committee.
After representations were made by both teams the committee last week decided there had been unacceptable misbehaviour by Tafarn yr Oen players.
A letter of reprimand to the league leaders stated "Any further trouble will be dealt with accordingly."
Tafarn yr Oen captain Jamie Bowen said: "The lads get excited and probably went a bit over the top on this occasion.
"We would like to apologise to the Tivy Inn and the league and I can give an assurance that players will be on their best behaviour in future," he said.
