A TANKER fire this morning (Wednesday, May 9) closed the main A487 Ceredigion coast road near Llanarth for around six hours.
Police closed the road in both directions between Synod Inn and Llanarth, with diversions in place. The road was reopened in the early afternoon.
Two fire crews from New Quay and Aberaeron were called to tackle the blaze, which broke out shortly before 7am in a lorry reported to be carrying biofuel.
A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 7.03 this morning to reports of a lorry fire on the main road between Cardigan and Aberaeron.
“Crews from New Quay and Aberaeron are in attendance and firefighters are using two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.
“They are also using absorbing granules on the ground and an environmental protection unit from Llanelli is on its way to the scene.”
It is understood no-one has been hurt in the incident.
