A local Assembly Member has had her photography chosen for an exhibition in the National Assembly for Wales.
Twelve of Joyce Watson’s nature photos were chosen for display in T? Hywel in Cardiff Bay.
The Mid and West Wales AM has taken photographs across her region, and has also captured images of wildlife on breaks between her international work with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly.
Joyce Watson AM said:“Photography is about recording memories. We all see what is around us but we all have very different perspectives. I am always drawn towards nature and hope to capture what I see in its natural habitat.
“I have chosen these photographs to represent my love for the natural world that surrounds us all.
“Whether I am walking around Pembrokeshire or travelling much further afield I always take my camera along.
“I have always been a keen walker. Then, naturally it seemed, I took photographs of what I saw. From that, I became more and more interested in the subjects of my photographs. I was fascinated by the birds that were around me.
“I find their graceful flight and their beautiful songs inspirational.
“The more photographs I took, the more I got to know about the birds, and the more I wanted to know. It has enriched my life and what is more, I love doing it.”
The exhibition of Mrs Watson’s nature photos will run from now until Christmas.
